Summary
Bates Technical College is seeking a Director of Nursing who will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the Nursing Department. This position includes responsibility for the management and administration of the practical nursing and certified nursing assistant programs, including planning, evaluation, budgeting, maintaining the program accreditation, classroom instruction and overseeing curricular and clinical training.

Essential Functions
- Maintain program’s accreditation and compliance with Washington State Board of Nursing by ensuring all related reports, fees and activities are executed in a timely manner to meet the requirements of national accreditation, federal and state regulations, and college policy.
- Oversee the planning, organization, and coordination of the program including the program policies and operations.
- Plan, execute, and evaluate program goals, objectives, data collection, program review and related activities and prepare annual and self-study reports.
- Ensure that curriculum and instructional design and delivery supports the mission, philosophy, objectives for the program and college as well as industry standards and current technologies; update course curriculum as needed, including performance objectives, competencies, lesson plans and content in accordance with accreditation and college standards.
- Oversee the delivery of instruction to nursing students; work closely with faculty to develop, deliver, monitor and evaluate program curriculum and outcomes; monitor student outcomes with other program faculty and adjust course content to facilitate student success.
- Ensure students are prepared for and have the opportunity to obtain relevant industry credentials and certifications; coordinate and support job placement assistance to students.
- Develop and maintain processes and policies for student recruitment, program enrollment, entry requirements, progression through and completion of the program, job placement, and employment trends in accordance with the college practices.
- Coordinate the dissemination of program information to instructors, administrators, support services staff and advisory committee members to ensure a cohesive learning environment dedicated to providing industry with qualified entry-level employees.
- Develop and maintain productive relations with businesses, industries, healthcare facilities and other organizations in the community which are pertinent to the program.
- Maintain accurate and current program information, including promotional material and program webpage.
- Manage the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school/campus academic and attendance policies.
- Responsible for preparing budgets and management of financial operations of the department within the budget, goals and objectives of college guidelines and policies.
- Provide leadership, development and supervision to staff to maximize the overall performance and ensure alignment of the department’s and College’s strategic plan, core values, vision and mission.

Non-Essential/Other Functions
- Accountable for keeping personal development up-to-date; adding to skills and knowledge through courses that may be available through the Bates Technical College courses, professional development committees, etc.
- Participate actively and collaboratively on committees for college as needed including but not limited to staff recruitment, college councils, etc.

Conditions of Employment

- This position is required to work on campus.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License
- Must maintain first aid and healthcare provider CPR
- Record of current immunizations.
- Must maintain a Washington State license as a registered nurse.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) from a nursing education program accredited by a national nursing education accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education and a graduate degree OR a graduate degree from a nursing education program accredited by a national nursing education accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education.
- Preparation/Experience in education that includes teaching adults, adult learning theory, teaching methods, curriculum development, and curriculum evaluation, or two years of teaching experience in nursing education that demonstrates this type of preparation.
- Curriculum development and administration experience.
- Five years of experience as a registered nurse including two years of experience in nursing education.
- Current knowledge of nursing practice at the practical nurse or associate degree program level as appropriate.
Allowable Substitution: If necessary, alternative combinations of education and experience may be evaluated by Human Resources for comparability.

- A doctoral degree in nursing from a college or university accredited by a national nursing accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education
