ABOUT THE COLLEGE:

Green River College’s student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical, 15% Adult Basic Education, 3% Applied Bachelor degrees.  Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw.  Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students,  students learning English, and Continuing Education students. Green River’s service areas are increasingly ethnically diverse, comprising African Americans, African immigrants, Asian Americans, Asians, Latinx, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Middle Eastern Americans, among other communities.

DEPARTMENT STATEMENT

The mission of the Green River College Nursing Department is to provide quality education to prepare students as safe, competent practitioners within our diverse healthcare community.   Graduates of the Green River College Nursing Program will be qualified candidates for the successful completion of the NCLEX and prepared for advancement in continuing healthcare education. The department’s vision is to meaningfully contribute to the advancement of healthcare in a diverse community. The department has embedded following values in its curriculum: community engagement, diversity and inclusion, integrity, excellence, innovation, caring, and student success. We seek staff experienced in delivering supportive services for diverse populations and in communicating issues and concerns faced by racially minoritized students.

POSITION SUMMARY

Green River College is looking for an energetic, knowledgeable, creative, dedicated, motivating, encouraging, and enthusiastic individual to fill our full-time program manager position in our Nursing Department. The successful candidate will have experience within the field of healthcare and with related employers. Additionally, the successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, colleagues and industry and organization employers in a campus climate that promotes the Nursing Department.

The Nursing Department of Green River College (GRC) seeks candidates for the Program Manager position that are passionate about student success, and who are committed to the service and equity mission of community colleges. As an open-access institution, Green River is deeply dedicated to helping students from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds to achieve their educational goals. We seek candidates with the same dedication to our mission. This is a full-time, in-person position with a 12-month contract. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Nursing.

Position Responsibilities
Recruitment and Marketing

  • Provide marketing and promotion for certificate, A.A.S. and B.S.N. degree programs
  • Develop relationships with regional employers with the goal of ensuring a high rate of employment for our graduates.
  • In partnership with the department faculty, the Clinical Affiliations Coordinator and the Associate Dean of Nursing, expand contacts with clinical partners and employers.
  • Recruitment event planning and participation with local industry and educational partners (i.e. job fairs, hiring events, volunteer events).
  • Program applications review and admissions in partnership with the Career and Advising Center and the Office of the Registrar and departmental staff and faculty.
  • In partnership with College Relations, ensure that all department webpages are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Monitor and track prospective students and maintain student waitlists.
  • Maintain and review student applications for all programs
  • Collaboration with Career and Advising to meet new student waitlist needs, reduce wait time to entry, and increase college full time enrollment goals.
  • Assist in current and prospective student registration, orientation and out-reach events.
  • Track and engage department alumni.

Supporting Student Success and Completion

  • Collecting and tracking general student data for program planning, assessment, enrollment projections, and state reporting; coordinating with enrollment services and institutional research as needed.
  • Assignment of faculty advisors to enrolled program students.
  • Assessing student needs and responding by assisting students through their time at GRC with connection to resources, problem resolution and networking.
  • Maintain program bulletin boards, email and social media announcements.
  • Serve as the campus liaison for Nursing Department through collaboration with campus offices including the Deans Office, Veteran Services, Financial Aid, Campus Advising, Enrollment Services, and the Library, among others.
  • Keep abreast of current student funding options to improve student advising and support.
  • Advising and mentoring students holistically from recruitment to completion and transition to employment or further education.
  • Maintain student enrollment and ListServ data each quarter.
  • Create and administer course and program assessments and evaluations. Assess data, and report on findings to the department to advance student achievement of outcomes, success in subsequent courses, and impact on retention, graduation, and successful transition to employment or further education.
  • Working in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Nursing to facilitate administrative, faculty, and student needs, including facilitation of distance learning and related issues.
  • Assist with planning program graduation ceremonies in collaboration with students, faculty and staff.

Logistics and Event Planning

  • Assist in joint course set-up and logistics in coordination with appropriate college partners.
  • Maintain and streamline day-to-day program operations including overseeing work study students and maintaining student equipment rentals.
  • Manage graduate social media pages and college job boards to ensure access to educational and employment opportunities.•    Coordinating and facilitating Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Create and maintain classroom utilization schedule.
  • Support classroom and department operations including submitting work orders when necessary.
  • Assist in reviewing documents, printing copies and basic office essentials as necessary.

Departmental Success

  • Assist in writing and securing program funding through grant opportunities. Manage, track and report all program grants.
  • Demonstrating cultural humility and intercultural engagement, including an awareness and understanding of historically marginalized populations, and the creation of an educational environment that affirms the identities and communications of students of color.
  • Contributing to a collaborative and innovative department, division, and institution.
  • Engaging in shared governance including campus-wide efforts to build an antiracist institution focused on action to advance access, retention, and success for our most marginalized and vulnerable students and employees.
  • Manage the departments systematic evaluation plans in partnership with program faculty and staff.
  • In addition, faculty and staff in the Nursing Program are expected to participate in activities required by the Program’s accreditation from the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission and the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA). Other activities may include collaborating with program faculty and staff to assure that accreditation standards are met for didactic and clinical education.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare related field is preferred and/or a combination of higher education and minimum of two years healthcare administrative experience. Special consideration will be given to candidates with a degree in nursing.
  • Demonstrated experience, expertise, cultural competencies, and commitment to equity in working with students, communities, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and identities.
  • Demonstrated experience with under-represented and under-served communities.
  • Good communication, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of computer processing software and data tracking/management.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • A valid driver’s license.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within 3-months of employment.
