General Summary

Highline College (HC) is seeking qualified applicants for one full-time, exempt staff position in the Nursing Program. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use equity-minded approaches to the management of clinical education for racially, ethnically, linguistically, and socioeconomically diverse students, including designing and implementing systems, policies, and procedures relevant to student placement as appropriate for the discipline and program. Candidates should be able and excited to work with administrators, faculty, and staff as well as community stakeholders to maintain and even expand Highline Nursing’s clinical footprint.

The HC Program Manager for Clinical Nursing Education will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the clinical experiences of students enrolled in the nursing program, including organization, administration, continuous review and revision, planning for and development of locations for evolving practice skills, and the general effectiveness of the clinical experience. This position reports to the Academic Affairs Office through the Nursing Program Director, as a member of the Nursing Department. The Program Manager has delegated decision-making authority to establish policies, methods, procedures, and work rules for the Clinical Nursing Education program. The position shares responsibility to ensure the Clinical Nursing Education program conforms to institutional and department policies and regulations. This position is expected to begin no later than Fall Quarter, September 2022.

This position is an exempt, at-will, full-time position. Hours of work include evening, weekend and travel.

Essential TasksUnder the Direct Supervision of the Director of Nursing Programs, this position will:
Essential Tasks:

  • Organize and manage all aspects of the clinical education experience for nursing students;
  • Regularly attend Clinical Placements Northwest (CPNW) meetings ;
  • Work closely with faculty, staff, and CPNW to create clinical placement grids to ensure clinical placement for students;
  • Manage and maintain Clinical Passports for all students and clinical faculty;
  • Ensure all Clinical Passport documents are submitted to CPNW in a timely manner and work closely with clinical partners to ensure a smooth transition into the clinical setting;
  • Assure instructional quality of clinical education through collaboration and consultation with Nursing Program Director, Simulation Coordinator and Clinical Lead Faculty;
  • Ensure and maintain compliance of clinical programing following ACEN accreditation and Nursing Commission standards;
  • Organize, review, and develop clinical evaluation tools as needed;
  • Assist with identifying and recruiting advisory committee members;
  • Implement and modify program processes to improve efficiency and serve the needs of students;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Nursing Program Director.

  • Work in a wide range of settings, which may include evening, weekend, and off campus duties;
  • Remain current in evidence-based practice and pursue appropriate professional development activities related to the position;
  • Participate in advisory committee meetings, promote effective advisory committee participation, and nominate and orient new department members to these committees;
  • Engage in department, division, and college initiatives;
  • Participate in shared governance and promote the college’s vision, mission, and values;
  • Participate in Nursing Program accreditation preparation and activities;
  • Complete other related duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Intermediate experience with word processing, email and spreadsheet software.


  • Post-secondary degree (AAS, BS, etc.); AND
  • 2-3 years of experience in project management, program management or administrative support.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience as a registered nurse;
  • Familiarity with clinical placement, clinical passports, and Canvas Learning Management System;
  • Teaching and/or administrative experience in higher education;
  • Fluency in one or more languages other than English.

Conditions of Employment
Highline College does require COVID-19 vaccinations for all students, staff and faculty –– with waivers for specific exemptions –– for those who physically attend courses, operations, or other in-person activities. This decision was made in accordance with higher education proclamation 20-12.4. A candidate will not be asked to report their vaccination status unless they are hired by the college. If a candidate chosen for hiring is not fully vaccinated from COVID-19 and plans to submit a medical or religious exemption to this employment condition, the hiring process will be suspended until a decision has been made regarding any exemption application which is submitted.
