Moonshine Wellness: Burnout and wellness coaching. A holistic approach to mental wellbeing (created by a nurse).

Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged or excessive stress. It’s often associated with work, but can also occur in other areas of life. Burnout can manifest as feelings of exhaustion, detachment from the source of stress, and a diminished sense of personal accomplishment.

A coach helps you set reasonable goals and develops a plan for achieving them. We also help you figure out what might keep you from reaching those goals. We know personal choices are only one piece of the puzzle, and help you understand and deal with the external factors that contribute to burnout.

Deer Hallow: The Weight of Nursing: When Caring for Others Leaves You Struggling

Every day, you show up for others—offering care, strength, and compassion, even when it feels like you have nothing left to give. The demands of nursing, from long shifts to emotionally draining moments, can leave you feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and alone.

For many nurses, the stress doesn’t stop when the shift ends. Unresolved traumaanxiety, and emotional exhaustion can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms like alcohol addiction or substance abuse. If this resonates with you, please know you’re not alone, and you don’t have to face these challenges by yourself.

At Deer Hollow, we do things differently. Unlike most mental health centers that only treat the symptoms of trauma, such as addiction or anxiety, we focus on healing the root cause—trauma itself. By addressing the emotional wounds that lead to these symptoms, we provide lasting healing and reduce the likelihood of needing repeat treatment stays.

WABON recognizes the need to establish a means of providing early recognition and treatment options for licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, and advanced registered nurse practitioners, whose competency may be impaired due to the abuse of drugs or alcohol. WABON intends that such nurses be treated, and monitored so that they can return to or continue to practice their profession in a manner, that safeguards the public (WAC 246-840-750).
